It was my turn out on perimeter watch.  Lately it has been pretty boring.  Most of the time overwatch is boring.  You have to just rough it sometimes.  So, I take up watch inside of a tree for concealment.  Yes their is a difference between cover and concealment and we can talk about that one later.  With my new Tactical Range Scope I got from Vortex optics!  Man, one thing about Vortex is that every optic you get from them is crystal clear!  I love Vortex!

Anyways, just as the sun started to go down behind me, I thought I saw a flash.  You know a flash from something the sun hit that was metal.  I looked through the Tactical scope again in the same area I saw the flash.  There it was, a guy with a gun.  I knew it.  I adjusted the scope to where I could see the whites of his eyes!  LOL…. and used the little Hashmarked ranging off to the side in the scope to quickly find the yards out they were.  The guy was 500 yards out!  Man that was quick.

I immediately took a knee again after radio in their position.  Even though I couldn’t believe how clear it was, I maintained eye contact with them and called in the range as they continued to come closer.  Where would I be without Vortex?
